About Christ Divine Fellowship Ministries

We are registered with the Government of Uganda as a Christian faith-based organization (FBO) operating church ministries.
Since the inception of our ministry in 2012, our mission has been broad, serving individuals and families through a variety of outreach ministries.

DivorceCare Ministry
We partner with churches by training and equipping their leaders with the tools and resources needed to minister effectively to individuals and families experiencing the pain and trauma of divorce and separation.

Single Adults Ministry
Through our partnership with Kris Swiatocho Ministries, we minister to single adults by offering hope, discipleship, biblical teaching, and encouragement. We help them grow in their relationship with Christ, deepen their knowledge of God's Word, and learn to trust Him with the desires of their hearts.

Fatherhood Ministry
We teach men—both young and old—to provide for, protect, and spiritually lead their wives and children. Fathers are encouraged to put the needs of their families above their own and to embrace their God-given role as servant leaders.

One way we reach fathers is through a weekly radio program. The photo below shows one of our broadcasts featuring American missionaries serving in Uganda who visited our city and shared biblical principles of fatherhood.
It costs approximately $200 to host a one-hour radio program each week for one month (four broadcasts). While the actual cost is higher, the radio station generously provides us with more than an 80% discount, making this ministry possible.

Girls with Great Potential
It exists to empower vulnerable girls to look beyond their circumstances and become women of purpose, leadership, and influence.

Many girls possess tremendous potential that remains undiscovered because of poverty, limited educational opportunities, cultural barriers, and early marriage. As these girls become wives and mothers without education or vocational skills, the cycle of poverty often continues for generations.

Unfortunately, the struggles these girls face are well known throughout Africa, yet too little is being done to change their circumstances. This contributes significantly to the high rates of poverty among women and gender inequality in Uganda.
Although more girls than boys initially enroll in primary school, their numbers decline significantly before completing their Primary Leaving Examinations due to factors such as:
  • Lack of sanitary supplies.
  • Cultural beliefs that prioritize educating boys over girls.
  • Sexual abuse and teenage pregnancies.
  • Child marriage.
  • Limited support from schools, families, and communities, causing many girls to leave school and marry while still teenagers.

To help bridge this gap, Christ Divine Fellowship Ministries established its sister organization, Girls with Great Potential – Lira.

Our Vision
To empower vulnerable girls through vocational training so they become self-reliant, productive, and equipped to build a better future for themselves and their families.

Using vocational skills as a tool for empowerment and personal development, we seek to transform the lives of vulnerable girls throughout the Lira and Alebtong Districts.

Our primary focus is on girls who have dropped out of school and young mothers.

Our Objectives
  1. Reduce the risks and vulnerabilities faced by disadvantaged girls.
  2. Provide vocational skills that prepare them to compete successfully in the marketplace.
  3. Help girls discover and develop their God-given potential, leading to an improved standard of living.
  4. Utilize locally available resources to promote long-term sustainability.
  5. Equip girls with entrepreneurship and business skills to strengthen their ability to market products and generate income.
  6. Partner with local, national, and international individuals and organizations to accomplish the vision and mission of the ministry.

Current Needs
  • Training equipment and materials.
  • Assistance identifying market opportunities.
  • Funding to employ vocational trainers.
  • A display and sales center for products.

Training Programs
  • Tailoring and garment construction.
  • Fashion design.
  • Bead making.
  • Value-added processing and packaging of agricultural products for local and export markets.
  • Exporting non-agricultural products such as clothing, beads, and handcrafted items.

Food Relief
Many families throughout Uganda struggle to obtain enough food and basic medical care, especially elderly individuals, vulnerable children, and child-headed households.

Children living with HIV often depend on life-saving antiretroviral (ARV) medications without fully understanding why they must take them. Our ministry seeks to provide practical assistance, food relief, encouragement, and hope to these vulnerable families.

Plight of Children Ministries
Northern Uganda endured decades of civil war from the early 1980s until approximately 2005, when the conflict led by Joseph Kony came to an end.

Although the war has ended, its devastating effects continue today. The region continues to struggle with extreme poverty, high HIV/AIDS prevalence, broken families, and widespread trauma.

Thousands of children lost one or both parents. Many were abducted and forced to become child soldiers. Families were displaced from their homes and forced into camps or safer communities.

As a result, many children ended up living on the streets. School dropout rates increased dramatically because many children became orphans or were raised by a single vulnerable parent. To survive, children often worked by fetching water, washing dishes in restaurants, collecting scrap materials, and performing other menial jobs. Sadly, many became victims of exploitation, abuse, theft, prostitution, and other criminal activity simply to survive.

When Christ Divine Fellowship Ministries was established in 2012 in a suburb of Lira, the area was home to many displaced families who had fled the war years earlier.

Our very first church members were children from the surrounding community who came seeking help. These same children eventually became young evangelists, inviting their friends and relatives to church.

Because of our previous experience working with street children, we embraced these young people and launched children's ministries for all age groups.

Over the years, God has allowed us to become part of their lives. Our homes became their homes. Their pain became our burden, and their joy became our encouragement.
Today we operate two ministry centers that provide:
  • Psychosocial care and support.
  • Biblical discipleship.
  • Counseling.
  • Sunday School.
  • DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K).
  • Vocational training for school dropouts.
  • Basic primary education for orphans and vulnerable children.

Our Intervention
We developed several strategies to help children overcome the devastating effects of war and poverty.
The first strategy was sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.

Many of us grew up in the same war-torn communities. I was born during a military coup. At the age of seven, another coup occurred, changing the government. Between the ages of seven and twenty-eight, I often slept in the bushes several nights each week to escape violence. For nearly two years, we were unable to sleep in our own homes. During those difficult years, Christ was our only hope. Whether we lived or died, our hope remained firmly in Him.

Our second strategy was connecting children with organizations that could provide education, vocational training, and other essential services. Many children benefited greatly. Unfortunately, after the war ended, many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) closed their offices and withdrew their services. As a result, countless children and families once again found themselves without hope, causing many students to leave school.

Today, our greatest challenges are providing education, nutritious food, and meeting the basic needs of the children and caregivers we serve. By partnering with families, we strive to help children build brighter futures rooted in the hope of Jesus Christ.

Below are a few photos highlighting the ministries and lives that God continues to transform through Christ Divine Fellowship Ministries.

A Father's Walk Ministries

I have been blessed to partner with Pastor Thomas Obong of Christ Divine Fellowship Ministries in Uganda to help bring one of the first Father's Day celebrations to their area! With God's leading, we pray this will become an annual event and possibly even a national holiday. (Father's Day here in America began a little over 100 years ago through a couple of church services, and look at it now)

Operation Blessing, Microenterprise

Imagine the struggle of being a parent and not being able to feed your children, take them to the doctor, or provide them with safe shelter. For these hardworking families, the burden of poverty, lack of resources, and sickness often keeps them from reaching their greatest potential. Through Operation Blessing’s microenterprise and community development programs, families are becoming equipped for success through life skills training programs such as sewing, baking, jewelry-making and carpentry—as well as community farms and gardens, home construction projects, animal husbandry, small business loans and more!
