As a Christian, God has called all of us to disciple each other. He has called all of us to help each other in our walk with the Lord. From teaching a Bible study, to mentoring, to encouraging one another, we are to "sharpen" each other so we are more effective. So how does this look for you?
LEADER TO LEADER:
As a leader it can be hard to carry the load of the vision of the ministry. There are times you feel very alone. It is at this time other leaders, pastors, managers should help you as you lead. From coming along side you, to giving you some ideas, to praying for you, to holding you accountable to take some of the load off you.
LEADER TO TEAM:
As a leader to his/her team, it's important that you are willing to be flexible, teachable, and open as the ministry needs and people change. It's important to listen to your team so that as they help sharpen you, you are best equipped to sharpen them. Then your ministry, your job, your family (whatever team you are on), works in unity towards the goal God has given.
INDIVIDUAL TO INDIVIDUAL:
As an individual, we need to always be growing in the Lord. We need each other, we need community and accountability. We get sharper by having people in our lives that are growing as well. But sharpening will be of no valuable if we are not teachable, meaning, we have to want to be sharpened.
So ask the Lord today, what areas of my life am I willing to be made sharper, better? Help me to give those areas to you. Help me to seek people in my life that are also wanting to grow and help me to want to grow.
