As a women who has been in ministry a long time I can tell you that most churches, most ministries could use more men. Men who know who they are in Christ. Men who put God first. Men who want to be great friends, fathers, brothers and husbands. Men who know how to lead, to disciple, to encourage. So the more we reach out, the more we connect, the more we connect the more we grow..the MORE THEY GROW.
A few years ago I found a great men's retreat called "Mancation"...it was a men's event that started on a Friday night with a message/food and then all day Saturday men would split into groups to do various things such as golfing, fishing, hunting, etc. Things that men liked to. Things that allowed men to be men, connect, share and get support. I just loved this idea. I was like, we need more of these type of events. We need to be thinking outside the box. We need to reach men where they are versus where we are.
Recently I was sent an email about another type of men's event sponsored by www.PrayforPrey.com. Tony Bolten (who I do not know personally) speaks to men in a language they understand. He encourages, he laughs, and he shares the gospel.
If you get a chance, check out his website and tell me your thoughts. I once heard Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family say that the biggest problem with America isn't sin, it's the "missing daddy" in the home. Join me in praying for God to continue to raise up our men to be who God wants them to be.
