As the summer weeks progressed, I became more and more frustrated. I was doing my best to trust God. I wasn't having such a hard time in trusting him for income/provision but more so with my teaching. When a teacher goes too long without teaching, you get rusty. I know not speaking for 3 months would be hard for me. I like to stay on top of my calling so that I am always at my best.
Then about a month ago I called a friend who I trust and whined to her. I told her that I had been here before when singles ministry work got slow. I would then start to find other ways of getting speaking by contacting churches to do women's ministry, greeter, leadership, etc. Please know, I love to do it all and welcome more work in those areas but singles is my heart. I went on to tell her that each time I would turn and start putting energy into those other areas, singles ministry comes back. She then said, "Kris, then what is God telling you?' I was like, what? She went on to say, "don't turn, wait on God." I was like, oh, ok. So I waited. I really waited. And guess what, the whole time God was working on something local. Due to some circumstances beyond my control (and others), there had become a need to start a local singles ministry with its goal to teach the word, grow people in Christ and connect them. So long story short and believe me, Holy Spirit birthed and developed, Connect 4 was started (www.SinglesConnect4.com).
Two weeks ago I had a last minute party at my home and God brought a ton of people who would be the ones who help get it started. Then, last Saturday we had our first prayer meeting that went from just a weekly meeting of singles to a ministry. God would give us a meeting place that was perfect (and free), leaders and purpose. And this Saturday is our first official study. I also created a website today, got an email and Facebook page. God has also brought tons of singles who want to help. Oh and did I mention, I am going to be the teacher..at least until God raises up more so that we can rotate. Yea, God is good. All the time.
So what about you? Maybe God is saying the same…just wait, I am working on something. Something way more than you can imagine or expect. But its not ready yet and if you get ahead of me, you will spoil it. So just wait for my perfect timing. And oh, I got ya covered. I always take care of my own.
