On Monday, while driving west to Houston, I pulled into a hotel near New Orleans for the evening. While idling, I was on my computer, securing my room. Then all of a sudden my phone said my car was overheating and to turn it off and call a mechanic. Well, you could imagine the instant fear and questions I had. So what is wrong? What's it going to cost to fix it? Where do I go to get it fix? And will this delay my trip to Houston?
After prayer and seeking the advice from HUM, Walmart's auto shop, and my mother (lol), I ended up getting the car towed to Firestone. I knew right away that although I was inconvenienced, and not thrilled about spending money, I knew God was up to something. So Tuesday morning came and my car was swiftly taken to Firestone. I thought maybe I was supposed to witness to the driver. But quickly this was not the case. Once I got to Firestone, I tried witnessing to the mechanic. And although they did quickly identify the problem as both my engine fans were broken, causing my car to overheat, a $650 fix, he was not the person God had for me.
So I sat down in the waiting area what would be several hours when a young man, Marcus Rodgers sat beside me. We both made comments about the show playing on the TV and that would start the conversation The next 3 hours we talked about the Lord, family, friends, choices, mistakes, prayers, redemption, reconciliation, healing, and so much more. We had church. Marcus is an incredible young man of 26. His story is detailed and exciting, encouraging and empowering. I can't wait for all to meet him.
Marcus and I became facebook and instagram friends. He even had his mom friend me. She's done a great job to raise such a strong, confident young man. The key though is she had Jesus. So how will you meet Marcus? I have asked him to write some articles for my website, telling his story. So stay tuned.
And next time you car, body, house, phone, etc. breaks down and you have to take it in for repairs...just remember, don't get discouraged. God owns it all and can replace it all. It broke down to bring you to someone else so that you could share your story or theirs with you.
Romans 1:12 That is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
