When you are use to spending time with God almost everyday and then you don’t get that time, its like your missing part of yourself, your heart, your soul. I know He is there and He is with me, guiding me, directing me but not taking the hour or more to just sit at his feet, listening to him, reading his word, etc...can’t be replaced with anything else. This is how you eliminate those holes. Ha!
When you are in ministry, you can quickly lose yourself. One time I heard the story of the man who was chopping firewood. He had this quota to meet and kept chopping wood. As time when on it got harder and harder to chop the wood because the blade started to get dull. No matter who came along and suggested he stop to sharper then blade, he refused, saying he had to get all this work done. But again, the duller the blade the harder he worked to the point it almost killed him and well, he had to stop then. But at this point he was of no help to anyone as he was exhausted beyond words, physcially sick, huge blisters on his hands, etc....so do you get the story? You have to stop and take time for you, for God. Believe me, I am the queen of getting stuff done. I love a huge list of to do's and then getting to mark them off. But I am also learning to stop, rest, take time for me, for God.
So no matter where you are right now..STOP, take time to refresh, take time to rest, take time to renew..you will not only be a better person but you will have the energy to help others. Plus, you are setting an example to others. See Christ as your example.
Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Proverbs 11:25: A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
