You know when I was reading this I thought of all the things the enemy attacks us in...from whispers of personal defeat, you will never change, or it will be like this forever to temptation to buy things you don't need, eat more than you should, watch something that is bad for you. But these are the things we recognize--whether we choose to fall into them or not. But what about the things we don't recognize. Those tiny cracks in our armor, those places we have gotten over confident in that we would never fail in again, those new places where we have no experience in failure, those subtle choices that seem to make sense, wrapped in Spiritual language and conversation and prayer.
Folks, we must never get too comfortable, too relaxed, or too laid back. The enemy doesn't sleep. When Christ was tempted by the devil and the devil gave up--he said until another opportuned time. The devil who knows Jesus is God is still trying to defeat him--then what do you think he is doing with us.
So when you feel bad, when you feel defeated, discouraged, made a bad choice, tempted, etc. remember, the enemy doesn't go after those that he is not threatened by--he has them. But while the enemy is going after you, he is also going after all believers. Does this comfort you or discourage you? It comforts me to know I am not alone. We are in a battle, not against flesh but against the enemy and his mess. As we come together as believers, praying for each other, praying with the power of the Holy Spirit, we not only win the little battles but we know we have won the biggest battle. So stay strong, don't let your guard down. Be prepared by learning and speaking his word--your sword to fight. And one day, one day we will all be in heaven together rejoining the enemies ultimate defeat.
