So as I was listening to Chuck, it made me think of just how much we can really do for the Lord at any age. That we do not have to wait till we are grown, be married, own a house and so forth. Not long ago I led my 12 year old nephew to the Lord. I was visiting them while traveling and teaching. I started to pray as I approached their home, "God, how do you want me to witness this time? How do you want me to share? Use me Lord to be the example to my family."
On the way home, after spending some time swimming at a nearby lake, my nephew out of no where said, "So Aunt Kris, how do you get saved?" I was speechless at first and then, praised the Lord. I would lead him to the Lord that night, highlighting the "Romans Road" in his Bible that was given to him many years ago. We went to a local Christian bookstore and I purchased a couple of devotions and a tshirt, bible cover, etc. He has been reading the devotions ever since, even discussing them with me via texting.
I believe my nephew is called to be a light to his lost friends. I believe as a soon to be teenager, like Joseph when abandoned by his brothers will have the foundation to make the right decisions in his life. Decisions that will affect others.
Today's memory verse by Bible Gateway is...Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
Joseph lived this verse, despite all the horrible things that happened to him. My prayer is my nephew will learn to do the same as we both travel this journey with the Lord.
