Recently another friend of mine announced her engagement. I was surprised as i didn't even know she was dating anyone seriously. Why? Well, she has a a little bit of baggage in her life. This baggage would seem overwhelming to most eligible bachelors. Then today I received an email from a close friend who also had heard the news. Her only response was, Kris, why not me? I felt her pain as I had said the very same thing to another friend when I had heard the news. God, why not me? I mean, I have it together for the most part. I am single, without kids, without sickness, without debt, and without overwhelming regrets. I am in full-time ministry, thriving and doing what God has called me to do. I am ambitious, energetic and passionate. I am a super catch, I think. So why Lord, why is SHE getting married. She has all these problems. I don't get it Lord.

Well, as I was sharing with my friend my frustrations, she reminded me of some very important things to think about. Looking from the outside in can not possibly tell you the truth about a situation. She reminded me that first, God was still in charge. Second, I have no idea what type of man my friend was marrying. I don't know anything about him and his baggage. I also don't know how long they have known each other. I also do not know his spiritual relationship with God. With that being said, I was comforted by the Lord in that she was right. I do not know the situation. Because if I did, I might not want to be in her place. I might prefer to stay single. God continued to tell me to just seek Him and he would give me my hearts desire in His timing. My friend who is getting married is doing what she feels God has called her to do.

So Lord, why not me? I am thankful for the answer. I am still trusting you to know what is best AND to be careful to not judge what I hear or see without knowing all the parts. If this guy is the perfect guy for my friend, then he is HER perfect guy that God has brought. And I am willing to wait for mine.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
